Two seats on Garner’s Town Council are up for grabs and on Nov. 3, residents will decide who’s going to fill them.

Five candidates are running for Garner Town Council: newcomers Amaka Flynn, Mona Parks and Arnie Osborn, and current council members Gra Singleton and Kathy Behringer.

This website, run by The Garner Citizen newpaper, serves as a clearinghouse of information about the election and the candidates. It includes biographical information about the candidates and their letters to voters, as well as voting information and recent media articles about the election.

On Oct. 1, candidates came together for public debate at the Garner Historic Auditorium. Organized by The Garner Citizen, the debate offered candidates an opportunity to draw distinctions between each other and to publicly present their plans if elected to Town Council.

Topics included future use of incentives to retail developers, explaining decisions to the public and whether to give Garner’s mayor a permanent vote. A breakdown of the candidates’ perspectives on these issues can be found under each person’s name under “The Candidates” section on the right-hand navigation sidebar.
